Arrival in Tampa for the 2012 Republican Convention

Vanessa Green, Gloria Tow, Kathy Statham, Judy Bailey, Rachel Little and Mary Adamski arrived safely in Tampa this afternoon.  The weather is beautiful so far.  We are expecting to have some ripple effects from Hurricane Issac.  The RNC has canceled most events for Monday's opening day.  Most of the RNC events have been moved to Tuesday.  The big welcome event/concert is still on schedule; as well as, all GA GOP events.

We have talked with many of the locals today and we were delighted that they all are rooting for Mitt Romney and the Republicans. We met a really interesting couple at dinner.  They were in their mid-eighties and have been married 66 years.  They can't wait to vote for Romney and move the this country in another direction.

Vanessa, Gloria, Kathy and Judy are spending this night at SpringHill Suites.  We were greeted in the lobby by a large number of  police officers from around the state of Florida.  They have been planning and training for this event since last January.  We feel very safe and secure.

Please look on look on the Dacula Patch web page for Vanessa Green's blog on all of today's events.

Look for more tomorrow.

Invitation to Telephone Town Hall with Congressman Woodall

You’re invited…

I hope that you will consider joining me for a Telephone Town Hall on Tuesday, August 28, 2012, at 7:00PM.  If you would like to participate, please dial (toll free) (877) 229-8493 and enter the passcode 17849.  You will be placed directly into the call where you can listen in and, if you'd like, ask questions.  Please consider calling in on Tuesday evening to be a part of the discussion.

Over the past month, Americans watched as men and women from across the United States—including five from right here in the Seventh District—competed with nations from around the world in the 2012 Summer Olympics.

The athletes who competed in the Summer Games personified the dedication, the work ethic, and the unbreakable will it takes to succeed.  As a result, the United States dominated this year’s Olympics—winning more medals than any other country in the world.  Americans watched with awe and pride as their fellow countrymen and women tested their limits in the name of personal achievement, national pride, and victory.  Perhaps, like me, you see that these ingredients of success are not exclusive to our athletes.  What we saw in these games, was the American spirit—inherent in each one of us.

America is the greatest nation in the world, and as soon as our policy makers realize that Americans thrive in spite of Washington—not because of it—we will succeed like never before.  Washington does not create jobs; people do.  Our best days are still ahead, and I look forward to continue working on your behalf to eliminate the regulatory burdens that are clipping the wings of hundreds of thousands of job creators.

I thank you for your continued commitment to freedom and trust in me.  Again, I hope you will consider joining me at Tuesday’s Telephone Town Hall, and I look forward to visiting with you then.

Sincerely,

Rob Woodall

RNC Chairman Announces Five Additional Republican Convention Headliners

Our own  Attorney General, Sam Olens, has been selected as a Speaker.  What a great honor for him and Georgia.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

August 8, 2012

RNC Chairman Announces Five Additional Republican Convention Headliners

Tampa, Fla. - Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus today announced five additional headliners who will address the Republican National Convention August 27-30. More convention speakers, including the keynote, will be announced in the coming days. The five speakers announced today are:
  • Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, Florida's 37th attorney general and first female attorney general in state history;
  • Texas Republican U.S. Senate Nominee Ted Cruz, former Texas solicitor general (first Hispanic and youngest person in that position);
  • Puerto Rico Governor Luis Fortuño, first Republican elected governor of Puerto Rico since 1969 and first Republican representative from Puerto Rico elected to Congress;
  • Georgia Attorney General Sam Olens, former chairman of the Cobb County Commission; and
  • Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, 45th governor of Wisconsin and the first U.S. governor to have successfully kept their seat in a recall election.
"These five remarkable individuals will bring a diversity of experiences and perspectives to the convention stage in Tampa, where they will voice their support for Governor Mitt Romney. They have each served the public in their own impressive ways, and they all share a dedication to the Republican principles of individual opportunity, responsible government and personal liberty," Chairman Priebus said.

Republican National Convention Chief Executive Officer William Harris said, "We are creating a world-class program of speakers at this convention. Their love for our country and vision for a brighter and more prosperous future will resonate in Tampa and echo across our nation."

Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi

"The government takeovers coming out of Washington have to stop. As an attorney general, we are constantly fighting the federal government back from overreaching and over-regulating - from the EPA to health care. We want to help businesses create jobs for our people, not regulate and tax them into bankruptcy. Mitt Romney will fight for our job-creators, and I am honored to be a part of his nomination to be the next president later this month in the great state of Florida," said Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi.

Texas Republican Senate Nominee Ted Cruz

"The United States of America is still a shining city on a hill. We can restore the U.S. Constitution and reign in out-of-control spending with new leadership in Washington. The pundits will talk, but it is the voters who will make the final decision. There is a great awakening that is sweeping this country. I predict that we will see a new level of energy and commitment to reform at the Republican National Convention as we unite behind Governor Mitt Romney," said Ted Cruz.

Puerto Rico Governor Luis Fortuño

"The most important issue in this election is our economy. Mitt Romney has the real-world experience and solid plan that will create jobs and help businesses succeed. I will deliver this message to my party and to the world at the Republican National Convention in Tampa," said Puerto Rico Governor Luis Fortuño.

Georgia Attorney General Sam Olens

"We can do better as a country. We must empower Americans to make their own choices across the board. The jobs-killing, unconstitutional policies coming out of Washington, D.C. must be undone. Elections do have consequences and we will start to put our country back on track at the Republican National Convention when we nominate Mitt Romney," said Georgia Attorney General Sam Olens.

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker

"We have seen the power of bold ideas right here in Wisconsin. The American people are demanding bold reform and we need to put a leader in the White House who will fight to turn our country around. The Republican National Convention will be an important rallying point for our country and our party and I look forward to sharing our story of reform and officially nominating Mitt Romney as the next president of the United States," said Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker.

RNC Announces Additional Round of 2012 Convention Speakers

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 7, 2012

RNC Chairman Priebus Announces Additional Republican Convention Headliners

Tampa, Fla. - Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus today announced the second list of headliners addressing the Republican National Convention August 27-30. Additional convention speakers, including the keynote, will be announced in the coming days and weeks. The speakers are
  • Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, 43rd governor of Florida and current chairman of the Foundation for Florida's Future;
  • Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin, the first woman to serve as both Oklahoma lieutenant governor and governor, and the first woman elected to Congress from Oklahoma since the 1920s;
  • U.S. Senator Rand Paul, junior senator from Kentucky and founder of the U.S. Senate Tea Party Caucus; and
  • Former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum, 2012 presidential primary candidate, and U.S. Senator (1995-2007) and U.S. Representative (1991-1995) from Pennsylvania.
"I am thrilled to announce Governor Bush, Governor Fallin, Senator Paul and Senator Santorum will address our convention," said Priebus. "As our party unites around Governor Romney, these four great leaders will lend their voices in support of his vision to get America back on track."

"Governors Bush and Fallin, and Senators Paul and Santorum are among our party's most respected leaders, and their participation at the Republican Convention will help generate enthusiasm for Governor Romney's plans to strengthen our economy," said convention Chief Executive Officer William Harris.

Former Governor Jeb Bush

"This election comes down to a fundamental choice - between Mitt Romney's commitment to business innovation and job growth and the president's record of government taxation and takeovers. This choice comes at a critical time for our country. We are facing tremendous challenges and our response to them will determine the course of our nation for generations to come. There is a lot at stake for us in November and that is why I am proud to support Governor Mitt Romney as the next president of the United States and I look forward to being a part of his nomination at the Republican National Convention in my home state of Florida," said Jeb Bush.

Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin

"The election this November is about much more than politics. It is a decision we have to make about the direction of America - are we going to continue to tax and spend and grow government far past the point of sustainability, or are we going to restore fiscal sanity to Washington, D.C. and force government to live within its means? In Oklahoma, we work to make government serve the people and not the other way around. Our next president has to share this same commitment and that is why I am so proud to be a part of the Republican National Convention to officially nominate Mitt Romney," said Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin.

U.S. Senator Rand Paul

"In the past four years, we have seen the national debt soar at the hands of failed Democrat policies. We are nearing a fiscal cliff and are in desperate need of a change of direction.  Whether it is Obamacare, Dodd-Frank or the EPA's war on coal, American jobs and growth are being stifled by the current policies. I believe Governor Romney would help our country start a new path, where job creators are encouraged not punished, and where the size and scope of government are brought under control. I am honored to speak about our Republican vision for the future at the national convention in Tampa," said Senator Rand Paul.

Former Senator Rick Santorum

"I am so passionate about this election because the core principles of our country are at stake. The Republican National Convention is an important time for us to rally behind Mitt Romney and his vision to put our country back on track. We need a leader in the White House who is committed to reforming government. Republicans believe that removing the incentive to work will destroy welfare reform as we know it, costing taxpayers millions and leading the poor to a life of dependency. The contrast between President Obama and Mitt Romney could not be greater. Conservatives from across the country are rallying together and we will make our voices heard in a few weeks in Tampa," said Senator Rick Santorum.

RNC Announces First Round of 2012 Convention Headliners

Posted from RNC Newsletter:  What a lineup!!

RNC Chairman Reince Priebus Announces
First Wave of Republican Convention Headliners

Tampa, Fla.
- Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus today announced the first list of headliners addressing the Republican National Convention August 27-30. Additional convention speakers, including the keynote, will be announced in the coming days and weeks. The speakers are:

  • South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, the first female governor of South Carolina and the youngest sitting governor in the United States;
  • Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, the 44th governor of Arkansas and 2008 presidential candidate is a NY Times best-selling author, radio and television show host;
  • Ohio Governor John Kasich, former House Budget Committee chairman;
  • New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez, the first female Hispanic governor in the U.S. and the first female governor of New Mexico;
  • Arizona Senator John McCain, the party's 2008 nominee, now serving his fifth term in the U.S. Senate;
  • Former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, America's 66th secretary of state and the first African-American female to hold the position; and
  • Florida Governor Rick Scott, from the convention host state.

"We are proud and excited to announce these outstanding leaders will address the nation during our convention in Tampa," said Chairman Priebus. "They are some of our party's brightest stars, who have governed and led effectively and admirably in their respective roles. Ours will be a world class convention, worthy of the next president of the United States, and these speakers-and those that will be announced later-will help make it a truly memorable and momentous event."

Republican National Convention Chief Executive Officer William Harris noted that "these individuals exemplify the Republican Party's commitment to economic growth and long-term job creation, and reflect our proud tradition of protecting America's interests around the world."

South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley

"The future generations of our children and our grandchildren are at stake in this election. While Americans work to build their businesses and create jobs, leaders of the Democratic party have spent more than three years raising taxes, increasing spending and taking away our health care choices. The Republican National Convention will be a time for not just our party, but our country to come together and get behind Mitt Romney as the next president of the United States. I look forward to being a part of this historic event," said South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley.

Former Governor Mike Huckabee

"I'm honored to be invited by Governor Romney to address my fellow Republicans at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, but especially grateful for the opportunity to explain to my fellow Americans why this election provides the most stark contrast of political platforms in American history. Four years ago, we were promised an economic recovery and the creation of millions of jobs, but have now seen the longest period of record unemployment since the Great Depression. We were promised that the sacred institution of marriage would be protected, but now we have the first president in history to support changing the nature and definition of marriage. We were promised that faith would guide these decisions, but instead we have seen a full frontal assault on the conscience and convictions of religious liberty by insisting that this new government run health care system include forcing churches, colleges, hospitals, and businesses to bow their knee to the Baal of the federal government. I will do all I can to help Mitt Romney become our president," said Mike Huckabee.

Ohio Governor John Kasich

"This election comes down to one thing - jobs. In Ohio, we know what that means. It means we need a leader who believes in American innovation, American ingenuity and the can-do American spirit that embodies our country. That leader is Mitt Romney, and I am honored to be a part of officially nominating him at the Republican National Convention in Tampa," said Ohio Governor John Kasich.

New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez

"The Republican National Convention will give Mitt Romney momentum for securing a critical victory for our country this fall. Americans want to work. They want to build their businesses, compete and succeed in order to create more jobs and a secure future for their families. Mitt Romney knows that is the formula for our economic growth - not more government roadblocks. We will share this message in Tampa in a few weeks, and the American voters will make their voices heard on this at the polls in November," said New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez.

Arizona Senator John McCain

"In these challenging times, America needs Mitt Romney in the White House. The Republican National Convention in Tampa will help give us the momentum to get him there. Mitt Romney knows that our nation's best days are still ahead of us and he has a plan to turn America's economy around and create jobs again. He knows that more government is not the answer; it's the hard work and ingenuity of the American people that will move our country forward. Mitt Romney believes, as Ronald Reagan did, that America has a unique and indispensable leadership role to promote security and prosperity around the world. I am very proud to support Mitt Romney as the next president of the United States," said Senator John McCain.

Former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice

"Americans are looking for leadership in Washington to advance the belief that free markets and free people are the cornerstones to our country's future. I look forward to being a part of the Republican National Convention later this month to support those beliefs by nominating Mitt Romney to be our next president," said Condoleezza Rice.

Florida Governor Rick Scott

"The Republican National Convention comes at a critical time for determining America's future. Mitt Romney knows that it is the hard-working people of America who build businesses and create jobs - not the government. We share that same belief here in Florida where we continue our progress in helping to create jobs by moving government out of the way of our businesses. I look forward to telling our story to the world when we gather in Tampa in just a few weeks," said Florida Governor Rick Scott.
